Spring and summer are almost here, so spruce up your bag or keyring with my Crochet Strawberry Keychain Pattern! This pattern is quick to make, allowing you and your best friend to have matching keychains.

    Finished crochet strawberry keychain.

To say I am a little obsessed with strawberries would be an understatement. I love strawberries; they are tasty, cute, and epitomize the early days of summer for me. In the past, I have a crochet strawberry bag and a crochet strawberry pillow, so why not add another strawberry creation to the mix?

The mini strawberry crochet pattern is nice and small and can be completed in just half an hour or less, depending on your speed and skill level.

With Valentine's Day, spring, and summer approaching, it's the perfect time to create a bunch of these strawberry crochet keychains to sell at markets!

So, let's get started learning how to crochet a strawberry keychain!

    ✏️ Things To Note:

    1. Yarn Choices: Although you could use new skeins for this pattern, you can also use scrap yarn since the mini crochet strawberry pattern is so small and requires very little yarn. If you have leftover yarn, you can make a crochet heart keychain too!
    2. Yarn Type: I used worsted weight yarn for this project, but any type of yarn works! Just know that if you use size 5 yarn or larger, the size of the strawberry will increase, resulting in a larger keychain.
    3. Size: The crochet fruit keychain is no bigger than 2 inches.

    🪡 Materials Needed

    • 5mm hook
    • Tapestry needles
    • Red Heart White Yarn
    • Red Heart Red Yarn
    • Red Heart Medium Thyme Yarn
    • Polyfill
    • Keyrings

    💭Abbreviations to Remember (US terms)

    • Magic ring - mr
    • Chains - ch
    • Single crochet - sc
    • Increase - inc
    • Decrease - dec

    🧋Variations

You can change the yarn to whatever you like! Opt for pink, white, or red for a nice variety! If you enjoy adding faces to your creations, consider making it an amigurumi strawberry keychain!

🍵Instructions for Crochet Strawberry Keychain Pattern

The crochet strawberry keychain is made in the round.

Strawberry tip is finished being crocheted.

Round 1: Make a mr and make sc x6 in the circle. If you find it difficult making a magic ring you can chain 2 and then crochet sc x6 in the second chain from the hook. (6)

Round 2: Sc in every stitch. (6)

Round 3: Inc in every sc. (12)

Middle part of the strawberry is done being crocheted.

Round 4: Sc in every stitch. (12)

Round 5: Inc, sc, and then repeat until end of round. (18)

Round 6-8: Sc in every stitch. (18)

    Finished strawberry body.

Round 9: Dec, sc, and then repeat until end of round. (12)

Round 10: Dec  and then repeat until end of round. (6) Fasten off and weave in the tails.

Finished strawberry, embroidered with the seeds, minus the leaves for the top.

With the white yarn and tapestry needle, create little white embroidered seeds all over the strawberry.

    Crochet Stem and Leaves:

This part of the pattern is made in the round.

    Start of strawberry leaves pattern.

Round 1: Using the green yarn, make a magic ring, then sc x5 into the center of it, slip stitch to the first stitch and pull the mr tight. (5)

    Start of strawberry leaves pattern.

Round 2: (Ch x5. In the second chain from the hook make a sc, then sc x3, one for each of the chains.

Attach with a slip stitch to the next stitch in the magic ring) and repeat what's in the parentheses for the rest of the round. You should end up with 5 leaves.

    Finished strawberry leaves.

Strawberry leaves now sewn to the top of the embroidered strawberry.

Sew leaves to the top of the strawberry.

Rejoin the green yarn to make a chain loop for the keychain.

To make the mini strawberry crochet pattern into a keychain, you want to join the green yarn back at the top of the strawberry, right where the magic ring was made,

Adding a keychain to the chain before crocheting the loop closed.

and then ch x7 and secure the loop back to the top of the strawberry.

Weave in any loose ends. And now your crochet strawberry keychain is finished!

If you have extra white and green yarn, consider making a crochet tulip keychain.

Also, if you are wanting to make more strawberry themed things, check out my crochet strawberry coaster pattern! If you crochet 2 strawberry coasters together you can make a crochet strawberry pouch to add to bags!

    🐌Expert Tips

    • Embroidery Timing: If you prefer, embroider the seeds after sewing the leaves on. This can help with the flow of your work.
    • Avoiding Keychain Conversion: If you don't want to make it into a keychain, you can skip the rejoining of the yarn and chains entirely.
    • Customization Options: Consider using a variety of yarn colors for different seasonal themes or personalizing each keychain with unique embellishments.

    🧵Pattern FAQs

Can I use chunky yarn for this project?

Of course! It will just be an extra large strawberry keychain then.

Is the crochet strawberry beginner friendly?

Absolutely! It also uses very little materials, so if you do make a mistake you don't waste too much as far as yarn goes.

What type of keychain keyring should I use?

I have linked the keyrings I used in the materials section of this post, but you can use whichever keyrings you prefer!
