Snuggle up with your loved one with my crochet heart blanket pattern! It is a throw sized blanket and can fit 2 snuggle bugs perfectly!

I have been wanting to make a crochet heart blanket pattern for a while now but always waffled my ideas around - until I learned about the crochet heart puff stitch! Once I saw this stitch I was in love! I knew this would be part of the heart blanket crochet pattern I was going to make, subtle, sweet, and the best part - no sewing. Just tucking in a few ends, I can live with that.
I also finished my heart crochet blanket pattern with a shell border, one of my favorites for a cute, sweet and romantic touch. Another crochet border pattern you can use to mitigate weaving in ends is the crochet envelope border pattern, it does take time to complete and is a yarn eater, but it does create a nice crisp edge.
The crochet heart blanket isnโt my only Valentines day crochet decor, I also have my crochet heart pillow pattern that I made last year! I love putting this on my couch as a cute and adorable throw pillow. And then this year I made a crochet heart garland pattern that you can use as nice mantle decor or bunting for the wall.

โ๏ธ Things To Note:
- Size: I made the crochet blanket pattern with hearts into a throw size blanket pattern, if you need a different size, adjust the starting chain. Just make sure it is divisible by 6 +2. The crochet heart blanket itself is 60โ x50โ.
- Yarn: I chose to do worsted weight (size 4 yarn). You can make the heart pattern crochet blanket in any weight of yarn - smaller weighted yarn will yield a thinner blanket with a smaller heart motif, and chunky yarn will make the hearts bigger and be an overall thicker blanket. Different yarn weights will also affect the overall size of the blanket and hook you will need to use.
- In the row: The crochet heart blanket is a 4 row repeat pattern. Once you have the 4 rows down, you can continue to make the blanket as long as you want.

The crochet heart blanket is made to be a cute Valentineโs Day pattern - but you can change the colors to be rainbow hearts for a rainbow baby or LBGTQ+ blanket depending on your needs ๐
๐ตInstructions for Crochet Heart Blanket Pattern
The crochet heart blanket pattern is made in rows.

Ch x200 with the pink yarn (or any chain count that is divisible by 6 +2).
Row 1: In the second ch from the hook make a hdc. Continue making hdc for the rest of the row (199). Then ch x1 and turn.
Row 2: Make a hdc in every stitch (199). Then fasten off the pink yarn and join the red yarn. Ch x3 and turn.

Row 3: In the first stitch, make a dc. Then *ch x2 and skip 5 stitches. In the next stitch (dc cl + ch x1 + dc cl). Repeat from * for the rest of the row. Dc x2 in the last stitch in the row (you will not be making a full heart). Fasten off the red and rejoin the pink yarn. Ch x1 and turn.

Row 4: Sc into the first stitch, *ch x1, then working into the unworked stitches of row 2: Skip a stitch, dc x3, skip a stitch. Ch x1 and then sc into the ch x1-space from row 3 (in between the dc cl).
Repeat from * until the end of the row. After the last dc x3 + skip a stitch at the end of the row, ch x1 and make a sc into the beginning chains. Then ch x1 and turn (199).

Row 5-6: Hdc in every stitch (199). Then ch x1 and turn. At the end of row 6, fasten off the pink yarn and join the red.
Repeat rows 3-6 as often as you need. For reference I made 30 rows of hearts.
Crochet Shell Border:

Once all the ends have been woven in it is time to make the border!
The border is a simple shell border.
Join the white yarn anywhere onto the border, then *skip a stitch, dc x5 into the next stitch, skip a stitch and sl st into the following stitch. Repeat from * for the rest of the round.
When it comes to the raw edges of the border, think of each row as 1 stitch. So you would skip a row, dc x5 into the next row, skip the next row and secure with a sl st into the following one. You want to make sure your shells are roughly the same size all around the blanket.
Sl st to where you joined the yarn. Fasten off and weave in any ends.
And now the crochet heart blanket pattern is done!
I hope you enjoyed making this pattern with me! And if you have any extra yarn you can make a few more of my crochet patterns! Like my crochet tulip bag pattern, heart keychain pattern or strawberry keychain pattern!
If you have a ton of red yarn leftover you should try making my crochet heart scarf pattern! It is a fast pattern that uses heart appliques.

๐Expert Tips
- You can always add a round of sc around the blanket before starting the shell border, especially if you are wanting to have a different border like the crochet bobble border pattern used instead.
- If you do not want the crochet heart stitch to be puffy, you can always make your dc cluster out of 2 double crochets, not 3.
- You want all the crochet heart puff stitches facing the same direction, so make sure you have 3 rows in between each heart row.
๐งตPattern FAQs
If you don't have an odd number of rows between each heart row that will happen.ย
Absolutely! Just make sure it is an odd number
If you prefer not to weave in the ends, you can always cut strips of yarn and make tassels or fringe. Or if you want to hide them away, use the crochet envelope border, it envelops the ends between 2 pieces of crochet.
