    ✏️ Things To Note:

    1. Yarn Choices: I used Red Heart yarns, but you can use whatever worsted weight yarn you have on hand. Otherwise, the sizing may be off.
    2. Gauge: There is no gauge for this pattern, but it's a good idea to have at least one creme or truffle egg nearby while you work. This way, you can ensure the egg cover isn’t too tight or too loose. If the egg is too tight, go up a hook size; if it’s too loose, go down a hook size.
    3. Finished Size: The finished egg cover measures slightly less than 3 inches without ears included.

    🪡 Materials Needed

    • Red Heart lemon yellow
    • 3.5mm hook
    • Tapestry needle
    • Creme eggs or truffle eggs

    💭Abbreviations to Remember (US terms)

    For the base:

    • Magic ring - mr
    • Single crochet - sc
    • Increase - inc
    • Decrease - dec
    • Slip stitch - sl st

Additional stitches depending on the pattern:

    • Half double crochet - hdc
    • Double crochet - dc
    • Chain - ch

    🧋Variations

I have three variations for this pattern: a bunny, a chick, and a frog. You can also create more variations like regular Easter eggs, lambs, flowers, mushrooms, etc.

    Variants:

    Chick:

Make a mr, then sc x5. In the first sc you make an inc, then in the next stitch make a hdc and then dc. Then ch x1, dc + hdc in the next stitch then inc in the next stitch. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Sew on the wings, then take orange yarn and embroider a tiny triangle for the beak. Lastly, with black yarn, embroider the eyes and then weave in any ends.

    Bunny:

Crochet bunny ears for the crochet bunny creme egg cover.

First ch x6 then in the second ch from the hook make a sc. Make 2 more sc in the next 2 ch. Sl st x 2 in the next 2 stitches. Then ch x1 and turn ( you will be going back over the row you just made, not going over to the other side….yet).

Sl st, sc, hdc, hdc in the next 4 stitches (1 in each stitch). In the 4th stitch dc x2, ch, and then dc x2 to go onto the other side of the ear.  In the following 4 stitches repeat what you did on the other side but in reverse. Hdc, hdc, sc, sl st. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

    🐌Expert Tips

    • Egg Fit: Always have a creme egg nearby to ensure the egg cover fits properly.
    • Color Combinations: Experiment with different yarn colors for fun and creative variations, like pastel shades for spring.
    • Embellishments: Add additional embellishments such as little bows or flowers to personalize each egg cover.
    • Time-Saving: If making multiple covers, consider using a stitch marker to keep track of your rounds more easily.
