    โœ๏ธ Things To Note:

    1. Size & Yarn Options: The finished crochet blueberry amigurumi measures around 6 inches tall when made with worsted weight acrylic yarn. You can use any yarn type or weight you preferโ€”just note that using bulky yarn will give you a much larger version, perfect as a 10-inch plush pillow!
    2. Beginner Friendly: This crochet blueberry pattern is great for new crocheters. Itโ€™s simple, quick to make, and requires only basic stitches and techniques, making it a fun and stress-free project for all skill levels.
    3. Construction Details: The crochet blueberry pattern is made in the round using mostly single crochet (sc) stitches. The shape is smooth and easy to work with, perfect for building confidence with amigurumi.

    ๐Ÿชก Materials Needed

    • Red Heart Yarn - Delft
    • Red Heart Yarn - Medium Thyme
    • 5 mm Hook
    • Polyfill
    • 12mm safety eyes
    • Tapestry needle

    ๐Ÿ’ญAbbreviations to Remember (US terms)

    • Magic ring (mr)
    • Chains (ch)
    • Single crochet (sc)
    • Double crochet (dc)
    • Triple crochet (tr)
    • Slip stitch (sl st)
    • Increase (inc)
    • Decrease (dec)
    • Back loop only (blo)

    ๐Ÿง‹Variations

    • There are several fun ways to customize your crochet blueberry pattern to suit your style or purpose. One popular variation is using plush or velvet yarn, which gives the blueberry a soft, squishy texture and significantly increases the sizeโ€”perfect for turning it into a cuddly pillow or statement plush. When made with plush bulky yarn, the blueberry can grow to around 10 inches or more, making it a great huggable toy or decorative accent.
    • You can also experiment with different shades of blue or even pastel colors for a whimsical twist. Adding a sweet little face with safety eyes and embroidery can give your blueberry extra personality. Feel free to get creative with leaf shapes or add a tiny stem for more detail.

    ๐ŸตInstructions for Crochet Blueberry Pattern

For this crochet blueberry pattern, we will be working in rounds.

Half of the crochet blueberry is finished.

Round 1: Using the blue yarn, make a mr and make sc x6 in the circle. If you find it difficult making a magic ring you can chain 2 and then crochet sc x6 in the second chain from the hook. (6)

Round 2: Inc in every sc. (12)

Round 3: Inc, sc. Then repeat until the end of round (18).

Round 4: Inc, sc x2. Then repeat until the end of round (24).

Round 5: In blo- inc, sc x3. Then repeat until the end of round (30). Back loop only is only for this round, now you can go back to doing normal single crochet stitches.

Round 6: Inc, sc x4. Then repeat until the end of round (36).

Round 7: Inc, sc x5. Then repeat until the end of round (42).

Round 8: Inc, sc x6. Then repeat until the end of round (48).

Round 9: Inc, sc x7. Then repeat until the end of round (54).

Round 10: Inc, sc x8. Then repeat until the end of round (60).

The crochet blueberry ball shape is completed and has eyes.

Round 11-18: Sc in every stitch (60).

Round 19: Dec, sc x8. Then repeat for the rest of the round (54).

Round 20: Dec, sc x7. Then repeat for the rest of the round (48).

Round 21: Dec, sc x6. Then repeat for the rest of the round (42).

Round 22: Dec, sc x5. Then repeat for the rest of the round (36).

Round 23: Dec, sc x4. Then repeat for the rest of the round (30). You should place the eyes between rounds 13-14 and begin stuffing the blueberry with polyfill.

Round 24: Dec, sc x3. Then repeat for the rest of the round (24).

Round 25: Dec, sc x2. Then repeat for the rest of the round (18).

Round 26: Dec, sc. Then repeat for the rest of the round (12).

Round 27: Dec. Then repeat for the rest of the round (6). Fasten off and sew the bottom of the blueberry closed.

    Blueberry Frill:

The top frill of the blueberry is completed.
Crochets blueberry plush minus the leaf.

Back in round 5 you did blo, leaving the front loop untouched. Here is where we will make the blueberry frill for the top of the blueberry.

Join your blue yarn on one of the front loops from round 5. Ch x2 (counts as a dc), then in the same stitch - tr + dc. Then in the following stitch make a sc. Repeat making a dc + tr + dc in one stitch then a sc in the next stitch for the rest of the round. End the round with a sc and then fasten off the yarn. Weave in any ends.

    Crochet Leaf:

    Crochet leaf for the blueberry.

With the green yarn ch x8.

In the second ch from the hook make a sl st, then in the following stitches follow this sequence of stitches: sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, sl st. Then ch x1 and flip to the other side of leaf and then:

Sl st, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, and sl st. Then fasten off the yarn and leave a tail for sewing.

Make 1-2 leaves for the blueberry.

Thanks so much for checking out this crochet blueberry patternโ€”I hope you had a blast making your own sweet little berry! Whether you crafted it as a quick summer project, a cute gift, or a market best-seller, this fruity friend is sure to bring smiles all around.

    ๐ŸŒExpert Tips

    • Use a smaller hook for tighter stitches: To keep your stuffing from showing through, go down a hook size from what your yarn recommends. This gives your crochet blueberry pattern a neater, firmer shape.
    • Stuff as you go: Donโ€™t wait until the end of the crochet blueberry pattern to add stuffing. Gently stuff your crochet blueberry as you work, especially once the shape starts to close, to avoid lumps or uneven filling.
    • Use stitch markers: Since the crochet blueberry pattern is worked in the round, itโ€™s easy to lose track of where a round begins. A stitch marker will keep you on track and help your rounds stay even.

    ๐ŸงตPattern FAQs

What yarn is best for crochet food plushies?

Worsted weight acrylic or cotton yarn is commonly used because it's affordable, durable, and comes in a wide range of colors. However, plush or velvet yarn is great if you want a softer, chunkier plushie. Choose yarn based on the texture and size you want.

What size crochet hook should I use for the crochet blueberry pattern if I am using different yarn?

Use a hook thatโ€™s one or two sizes smaller than the recommended size for your yarn. This ensures tight stitches so the stuffing doesnโ€™t show through.

How do I clean crochet plushies?

Spot clean with mild soap and water. If machine washing, place the plushie in a mesh laundry bag and use the gentle cycle. Always let it air dry. This is also true for the crochet blueberry pattern.
