✏️ Things To Note:
- Yarn Choice: For your coasters, opt for soft cotton yarn. Cotton is absorbent, durable, and ideal for handling any spills that might occur during breakfast. Plus, it holds its shape and softness over time, making it perfect for everyday use.
- Adjusting the Size: If you want a larger or smaller coaster, it’s easy to adjust the pattern. To maintain a flat, round shape, simply increase each round by 12 stitches. If you're working on a smaller coaster, reduce the number of rounds, but make sure to maintain that even, circular shape as you go.
- Securing Ends: After finishing your coaster, don’t forget to weave in all loose ends. This step is crucial for ensuring that your coaster stays intact and doesn’t unravel with use. Since coasters are often used daily, securely weaving in the ends will help your creation last longer and keep it looking neat.

🐌Expert Tips
- Tension Control: Maintaining consistent tension is key to making your coaster look neat and flat. If your stitches are too tight, then your coaster may curl up. If they’re too loose, then it could end up too floppy. Practice to find that perfect balance!
- Magic Ring: For a smooth, seamless start, try using the magic ring (also known as a magic circle) instead of chaining to begin your rounds. This will help eliminate that small hole in the center and give your egg coaster a cleaner, more professional look.
- Blocking: If your coaster ends up a little wobbly or uneven, blocking is a great way to help it hold its shape. Wet or steam block your finished coaster by gently shaping it to your desired size and letting it dry flat.
🧵Pattern FAQs
For best results, use soft cotton yarn. Cotton is absorbent and durable, making it perfect for coasters that will be used often. Plus, it holds up well over time, even with spills or frequent washing.
Absolutely! To make a larger or smaller coaster, simply adjust the number of rounds and increase each round by 12 stitches. This helps keep the shape flat and round. You can experiment with the size to suit your needs.
To prevent your coaster from curling, make sure your tension is even throughout your stitches. If it’s still curling after finishing, try blocking the coaster by gently shaping it and allowing it to dry flat.
