Add a bit of freshness and zing to your wardrobe with this cute Orange Crochet Bag Pattern! It's a perfectly adorable crochet accessory for spring and summer.
It’s no secret that I love making bags that look like food, like my Crochet Strawberry Bag and Crochet Dumping Bag. So, it was only a matter of time before I made one that looks like an orange.
And it’s perfect timing—Chinese New Year is tomorrow, and oranges are believed to signify good luck and happiness!
This crochet orange bag pattern is easy to make and perfect for beginners. It’s constructed in three simple parts, and the best part? No sewing is required! You can complete this pattern in just a few hours. The most challenging aspect is simply keeping your stitch count accurate in the orange circle rounds.
So let's begin!

✏️ Things To Note:
- Yarn Choice: I chose a more coral/orange color to give the bag a softer look compared to a bright orange or carrot shade. However, you can use any orange yarn that suits your preference.
- Size: The crochet orange bag pattern is approximately 8 inches in diameter.
- Continuous Circle Method: This bag is created using the continuous circle method, so there’s no need for slip stitching and chaining between rounds.

🍵Instructions for Orange Crochet Bag Pattern
This part of the pattern is made mostly in the round, while the handle is made in rows.
Round 1: Make a mr and dc x12 (do not make chains first, we want the middle to look like it's swirling from the center). (12)
Round 2: Dc Inc in every stitch (24).
Round 3: Dc Inc, dc, then repeat for the entire round. (36)
Round 4: Dc Inc, dc x2, then repeat for the entire round. (48)
Round 5: Dc Inc, dc x3, repeat for the entire round. (60)
Round 6: Dc Inc, dc x4, repeat for the entire round. (72)
Round 7: Dc Inc, dc x5, repeat for the entire round. (84)
Round 8: Dc Inc, dc x6, repeat for the entire round. (96)
At the end make a hdc and then a sl st for a smoother outer seem. Then fasten off the yarn.
Make 2 orange circles.
Once you have made 2 orange circles you want to single crochet the edges together. To do this you want to hold the 2 circles together and line them up in relation to stitch openings. Then rejoin the orange yarn to the outer edge going through both orange circles. Then sc around the edge for about ¾ -⅘ of the way.
You want to leave an opening about the size of a hand so you can easily grab things out of the bag.
Rows 1-115: Sc x 4 on just one side of the orange (not both pieces like we just did). Then ch x1 and turn. Sc x4 and repeat.
Adjust the length of the strap as needed.
To join to the opposite side of the orange you want to crochet the handle and the top of the orange together, close to the end of the opening. When that is done, fasten off the yarn and weave in the ends.
You will do this for the other side’s handle, but rejoin the yarn on the other orange circle and repeat.
Now the bag should be done.
Crochet Flower Bag Charm:
This pattern is made in 2 rounds.
Round 1: With the yellow yarn, make a mr then sc x5 into the mr. Fasten off the yellow and join the white yarn.
Round 2: With the white yarn, ch x2 and in the same stitch make a dc, tr, tr, dc. Then ch x2 and sl st back into the same stitch.
For the next 4 petals you are going to ch x2, and do the dc, tr ,tr ,dc, ch x2 and slip stitch into the next available stitch from the round below.
After all 5 petals are complete, slip stitch to the first petal, then chain x25 and sl st to the first ch. Fasten off the yarn and weave in any yarn tails.
Crochet Leaf Bag Charm:
This pattern starts off as a chain but then goes completely around it.
Round 1: Ch x13
Round 2: In the second ch from the hook make a sc. In the following chains make a hdc, dc, dc, tr, tr, tr, tr, dc, dc, hdc, sc in the remainder of the chains. Then ch x1, and flip to the other side.

🐌Expert Tips
- Prevent Stretching: If you plan to carry heavier items, I suggest lining the bag with fabric to prevent it from stretching out of shape. A phone or wallet should be fine without a liner.
- Secure the Opening: When working the handle, ensure you crochet it tightly to avoid it loosening over time, especially if you use the bag frequently.
- Bag Construction: The crochet fruit bag is made flat with no middle piece. If you'd prefer more depth, feel free to add a middle section.
🧵Pattern FAQs
Yes! Chunky yarn will transform the bag into a larger tote, which could be perfect if you need more space.
After completing the flower and leaf (without the chain handles), leave long tails for sewing. Use a tapestry needle to whipstitch or run a stitch to sew them onto the bag, ensuring you stitch through one side only.
Absolutely! You can add store-bought handles if you prefer something stronger than crochet straps. I usually make my handles out of crochet, but you can always add on a different handle if you want it to be stronger.
