🍵Instructions for Crochet Daisy Applique Pattern

For this crochet daisy applique pattern, we will be working in rounds.

Round 1 of the flower applique with hook on table.

Round 1: With white (not yellow, we sew the yellow on after the flower is made) make a mr, then sc x6 into the circle and pull tight (6).

Round 2: Make an inc in every stitch (12).

Now we will start crocheting the petals.

First spoke for the petal is done. Hook is on the table.

Round 3: *Ch x8, and starting in the second ch from the hook, make sl sts down the chain (7 sl st). Then sl st into the next stitch available from round 2.

Finished round 3 of the crochet daisy applique pattern.

Repeat from * for the rest of the round. When you get to the end you should have 12 spokes. Make a sl st into the sl st you made in the last round to finish up round 3.

Close up of a finished petal, hook is upside down and laying on the table.

Finished crochet daisy base, laying on a table.

Round 4: *Sl st into the first chain in the spoke. Then sc in the next 2 stitches and hdc in the next 4 stitches. At the top of the petal sc x3. Then turn the other side of the petal (where you made the sl sts) and repeat what you just did but in reverse order: hdc x4, sc x2, sl st. Make sure you go OVER the entire sl st as this is much easier to just go over the entire thing vs just the tops of the sl st.

Make a sl st OVER the sl st made in the last round between spokes. Repeat from * for the rest of the round.

Sl st to the beginning sl st and fasten off. Keep a long tail for sewing to your project. You may have to tug at the petals to make them lay nice and flat.

    Crochet Daisy Applique Middle:

Finished middle of the crochet daisy, laying on the table.
Finished crochet daisy applique laying on a wooden table.

Round 1: With the yellow yarn make a mr, then sc x7 into the circle and pull tight (7).

Round 2: Make an inc in every stitch (14). Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Sew the yellow circle to the middle of the daisy flower. This gives you a nice perfect circle in the middle of the flower without it appearing stretched out.

Now your daisy flower applique is done! I always suggest blocking it before adding it to projects to give it a crisp look.

I hope you enjoyed making this sweet and simple crochet daisy flower applique! It’s amazing how a small touch like this can bring so much life and personality to your handmade projects. Whether you’re dressing up a blanket, adding charm to a bag, or making cute accessories, this easy crochet flat flower pattern is a quick win with beautiful results.

    🐌Expert Tips

    • Block for Shape: After finishing your crochet daisy flower, lightly block it using a steam or wet blocking method to help it lay flat and hold its shape. This makes a big difference if you’re attaching it to something like a pillow or garment.
    • Use a Tapestry Needle for Neat Finishing: Weave in your ends carefully with a blunt-tipped tapestry needle to keep the back tidy—especially important if the flower will be visible from both sides.
    • Layer for Dimension: Want a more intricate look? Crochet two flowers and stack them together, offsetting the petals slightly for a fuller, layered effect. You can even sew a small button or bead in the center.
    • Secure It Well: When sewing your crochet big flower applique onto another item, stitch around the center and one or two points on the petals to keep it securely in place while allowing a bit of movement for a natural look.

Crochet appliques are incredibly versatile! You can use them to decorate pillows, cardigans, hats, scarves, totes, baby blankets, or even greeting cards and wall art.
