Nothing says spring like embellishing a project with my handmade crochet daisy applique pattern! Simple, sweet, and bursting with charm, perfect for adding to blankets, pillows and other projects!
Finished Size: This crochet daisy applique pattern measures approximately 5.5 inches wide, making it the perfect size to embellish just about anything. It's dainty enough for detailed work but big enough to stand out as a lovely floral accent.
Yarn & Hook: The daisy crochet flower pattern works well with lightweight yarns like cotton or acrylic, but feel free to experiment with different weights to slightly adjust the size. Just remember, changes in yarn or hook size will affect the final dimensions of your applique crochet flower.
Skill Level: The free crochet daisy flower applique pattern is easy, ideal for beginners or anyone looking for a quick project. It uses only basic stitches and works up in under 20 minutes once you’ve got the hang of it.
Instructions
For this crochet daisy pattern, we will be working in rounds.
Round 1: With white (not yellow, we sew the yellow on after the flower is made) make a mr, then sc x6 into the circle and pull tight (6).
Round 2: Make an inc in every stitch (12).
Now we will start crocheting the petals.
Round 3: *Ch x8, and starting in the second ch from the hook, make sl sts down the chain (7 sl st). Then sl st into the next stitch available from round 2.
Repeat from * for the rest of the round. When you get to the end you should have 12 spokes. Make a sl st into the sl st you made in the last round to finish up round 3.
Round 4: *Sl st into the first chain in the spoke. Then sc in the next 2 stitches and hdc in the next 4 stitches. At the top of the petal sc x3. Then turn the other side of the petal (where you made the sl sts) and repeat what you just did but in reverse order: hdc x4, sc x2, sl st. Make sure you go OVER the entire sl st as this is much easier to just go over the entire thing vs just the tops of the sl st.
Make a sl st OVER the sl st made in the last round between spokes. Repeat from * for the rest of the round.
Sl st to the beginning sl st and fasten off. Keep a long tail for sewing to your project. You may have to tug at the petals to make them lay nice and flat.
Crochet Daisy Applique Middle:
Round 1: With the yellow yarn make a mr, then sc x7 into the circle and pull tight (7).
Round 2: Make an inc in every stitch (14). Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Sew the yellow circle to the middle of the daisy flower. This gives you a nice perfect circle in the middle of the flower without it appearing stretched out.
Now your daisy flower applique is done! I always suggest blocking it before adding it to projects to give it a crisp look.
