Brighten up your home with my Crochet Flower Coaster Pattern featuring 6 petals! These coasters are perfect for spring, summer, or adding a touch of cheer to your space all year round.

I love springโit's arguably my favorite season outside of fall. Everything feels fresh: the rain smells sweet, flowers bloom with fragrance, and the days grow longer. This year, I wanted to shake off the winter blues by bringing some of my favorite elements of nature inside.
These simple floral crochet coasters are my take on the popular crochet flower coaster trend. I made this pattern unique by designing it with 6 petals instead of 5 (easier math for me!) and giving the petals a more defined shape. You can also use these flowers as large appliques on a blanket like how I use my crochet ghost coaster pattern for my crochet Halloween blanket pattern.
If you're looking for more spring crochet ideas featuring flowers, check out my cherry blossom coasters or crochet daisy coaster pattern since they also use the same colors of cotton yarn for these floral crochet coasters.
So, let's get started!

โ๏ธ Things To Note:
- Yarn Choice: I used cotton yarn for the 6-petal crochet flower coaster and highly recommend it for this purpose. Avoid acrylic, as it doesn't absorb liquid well.
- Using Acrylic Yarn: If you do choose to use acrylic for the Flower Coaster Pattern with 6 Petals, consider it for crochet flower appliques on blankets or pillows instead of coasters. I do this with my crochet sunflower blanket pattern and my crochet strawberry blanket pattern.
- Size: The finished flower coaster is approximately 5 inches in diameter.
๐ญAbbreviations to Remember (US terms)
- Magic ring - mr
- Chains - ch
- Single crochet - sc
- Double crochet - dc
- Triple crochet - tr
- Slip Stitch - sl st
- Increase - inc
* The ch x2 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch. Skip over it and sl st to the first dc you made.
* If you see a stitch abbreviation with "x" after it, it means how many times you do that stitch in the following amount of stitches. For example: sc x6 would mean you make a single crochet in the next 6 stitches. Inc x2 means you make an inc in the next 2 stitches.
๐ตInstructions for Crochet Flower Coaster Pattern with 6 Petals
The crochet flower coaster is made in rounds not rows.

Round 1: With the yellow yarn, make a mr then immediately ch x2 (does not count as a stitch) and dc x12 into the ring. Then sl st to the top of the first dc (12).

Round 2: Ch x2 and then dc inc for the entire round (24). Then sl st to the first dc in the round. Fasten off the yellow yarn and switch the yarn to white, or whatever color you want to make the petals.

Round 3: Ch x2 and then dc, dc inc for the entire round (36). Then sl st to the first dc in the round.

Round 4: This round we are going to make 6 tr crochet shells.
To make a triple crochet shell: *Wrap the yarn around your hook like you are going to make a triple crochet but skip 2 stitches and insert your hook into the 3rd stitch away from you. Then make 7 more triple crochets into that exact same stitch. After the 8th tr, skip 2 stitches and make a sl st to anchor the shell to the main part of the flower.

Repeat from* 5 more times for the petals. Then make a sl st right before the first tr at the beginning.

Round 5: This round will give more definition to the flowers.
*Skip the first tr and make a sc inc into the next 6 tr stitches.

Skip the last tr stitch. Instead, make a spike sl st by inserting your hook into the space between the dc post from the first petal row (2 rows below), directly beneath the previous rowโs sl st. Then complete a sl st there.

Repeat from * 5 more times for the other petals. Sl st to the beginning stitch.
Fasten off the yarn and weave in any ends.
And now you have completed a Crochet Flower Coaster Pattern with 6 Petals with my fun crochet flower coaster pattern! Quick and easy to make, perfect for your next crochet market.
If you have any yarn leftover, you could make a little crochet tulip keychain if you had some green available as well.

๐Expert Tips
- Cleaner Petal Transition: For a neater transition between the flower center and petals, try making the first petal round in the back loop only.
- Adjusting Petal Shape: If you want the petals to look more or less rounded, play around with the number of triple crochets in each petal. Adding or reducing stitches can alter the final shape.
- Securing Loose Ends: When weaving in the ends, use a tapestry needle to slide the yarn through multiple stitches on the back, ensuring they don't come loose over time.
๐งตPattern FAQs
No worries! While cotton is best for absorbency, you can still use the flowers as decorative pieces for blankets, cardigans, and more.
It's not necessary, but if you want extra grip to prevent the coaster from sliding on surfaces, feel free to add a non-slip backing.
Wool is a good alternativeโit's heat-resistant, absorbent, and antimicrobial. However, cotton remains my top choice for coasters.

Notes
- I used cotton yarn for the coasters, I only suggest cotton if used as a coaster. Do not use acrylic as it does not absorb liquid well.
- If you do use acrylic, it can be used as a crochet flower applique on a blanket or pillow instead of as a coaster.
- The finished flower crochet coaster is roughly 5 inches in diameter.
