Today, we’re making a cute Crochet Orange Pattern with a Crochet Leaf! Crochet food has gained popularity recently, especially crochet fruits, and these crochet oranges are perfect additions to any crochet food playset.

As mentioned, crochet food has risen in popularity, especially with crochet pop tarts, dino nuggets, and other things like fruit like my crochet lemon pattern!
As a fruit lover myself, I just had to crochet some of my favorites, like oranges! They are sweet, tart, and super juicy.
While it's not preferred for crochet plushies to be juicy, we can still appreciate a good crochet orange because they can be made to look super cute.
Whether you are making an orange amigurumi for yourself, your kids, for decoration, or as a soft item to toss (hee hee), it is sure to bring a smile to someone’s face! Also, if you are looking for more crochet orange themed patterns, check out my crochet orange bag pattern.
So, let's get started on making the crochet orange pattern!

✏️ Things to Note:
- Yarn Choice: I used acrylic yarn for this crochet citrus pattern. You can also use cotton and even chunky yarn if you want to create a giant orange. I would stay away from wool unless you’re okay with it shrinking after washing.
- Basic Stitches: The base of the pattern only requires single crochet (sc), so if you can single crochet, you can make this crochet orange pattern! If you want to make the leaf and flower, a few extra stitches are needed, including Chains, Half Double Crochet (hdc), and Double Crochet (dc).
- Tight Stitches: My stitches are tight when I single crochet, but if you have trouble keeping your stitches tight, try yarning under instead of yarning over during a sc. This creates a naturally tighter stitch. It might take some getting used to, but most amigurumi enthusiasts suggest yarning under.

🐌Expert Tips
- Yarn Selection: Choose a soft, durable yarn that holds its shape well. Cotton yarn is great for summer projects, while acrylic offers versatility.
- Safety Eyes: If using safety eyes, ensure they are securely fastened, if it is for a small child - embroider the eyes instead.
- Stuffing Options: Consider using eco-friendly stuffing alternatives, like cotton or recycled materials, for a sustainable project.

🧵 Pattern FAQs
Amigurumi is the Japanese word for crocheted dolls and other crocheted toys. It is more commonly associated with any crocheted stuffed object that has a bit of cuteness - like this orange!
Absolutely! Leaves come in all different sorts of shapes and sizes in real life, and the same goes for crocheted leaves! Find a few patterns that work for you and try them out!
I make sure my yarn tail is long, thread it on my tapestry needle, and insert it under a loop under the leaf. Before pulling tight, I pass the tapestry needle through the loop created from the yarn and repeat a few times at various spots under the leaf, ensuring to go through both the leaf and the orange each time.
