Today, we’re making a cute Crochet Orange Pattern with a Crochet Leaf! Crochet food has gained popularity recently, especially crochet fruits, and these crochet oranges are perfect additions to any crochet food playset.
Yarn Choice: I used acrylic yarn for this crochet orange pattern. You can also use cotton and even chunky yarn if you want to create a giant orange. I would stay away from wool unless you’re okay with it shrinking after washing.
Basic Stitches: The base of the pattern only requires single crochet (sc), so if you can single crochet, you can make this crochet orange pattern! If you want to make the leaf and flower, a few extra stitches are needed, including Chains, Half Double Crochet (hdc), and Double Crochet (dc).
Tight Stitches: My stitches are tight when I single crochet, but if you have trouble keeping your stitches tight, try yarning under instead of yarning over during a sc. This creates a naturally tighter stitch. It might take some getting used to, but most amigurumi enthusiasts suggest yarning under.
Instructions
For the crochet orange we will mostly be working in rounds.
Crochet Orange Pattern:
Round 1: Using the orange yarn, make a mr and then sc x6 into the mr (6).
Round 2: Inc in every sc (12).
Round 3: Inc, sc, then repeat until end of round (18).
Round 4: Inc, sc x2, then repeat until end of round (24).
Round 5: Inc, sc x3, then repeat until end of round (30).
Round 6: Inc, sc x4, then repeat until end of round (36).
Round 7: Inc, sc x5, then repeat until end of round (42).
Round 8-15: Sc in every stitch (42).
Round 16: Dec, sc x5, then repeat for the entire round (36).
Round 17: Dec, sc x4, then repeat for the entire round (30). And add the eyes between rounds 10-11, about 5 stitches apart.
Round 18: Dec, sc x3, then repeat for the entire round (24). Stuff the ball if you haven’t already yet.
Round 19: Dec, sc x2, then repeat for the entire round (18).
Round 20: Dec, sc, then repeat for the entire round (12).
Round 21: Dec and then repeat for the entire round (6). Then fasten off and sew the ball shut.
Crochet Orange Blossom:
Round 1: With the yellow yarn make a mr and sc x5 into the circle. Sl st to the first sc and fasten off the yarn. Join the white yarn.
Round 2: *Ch x2, and dc2tog in the same stitch you made the chains from. Then ch x2 and sl st to the next stitch. Repeat from * for the rest of the round. Fasten off the white and leave a tail for sewing.
Crochet Leaf Pattern:
With the green yarn, ch x8. Then in the second ch from the hook make a sl st. Then follow this sequence: sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, sl st. Make a chain and work the unworked side of the leaf.
Sl st, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, sl st. Then fasten off the yarn and leave a tail for sewing, you will use 1-2 leaves per orange.
Sewing:
Sew the crochet leaves and crochet orange blossom to the top of the orange in any way you would like.
And now your crochet orange amigurumi is done! I hope you enjoyed the crochet orange pattern.
