Sit on the couch and snuggle up with hot cocoa and this warm Candy Cane Crochet Blanket while watching your favorite holiday movies this year! Simple to make, you can have this crochet Christmas blanket completed in no time.
A good holiday blanket doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, simple is best so you can stay warm all winter long, allowing more free time for crocheting gifts for loved ones, like my Crochet Plaid Scarf.
I love this crochet candy cane blanket because it only uses double crochet stitches, making it perfect for beginners who want to tackle a big project. Plus, the repetitive nature of the pattern allows you to work on it mindlessly—great for catching up on TV shows! I also appreciate the simple color changes, ensuring each stripe is the same width.
The best part about making a simple blanket is that it gives you the opportunity to create a more intricate border, adding some pizzazz to the design. The dot border is perfect because it adds additional interest.

✏️ Things To Note:
- Yarn Choice: I used acrylic yarn for the blanket, but any type of yarn would work! Blanket yarn would be a great choice if you want extra warmth.
- Size Adjustments: I made this blanket the size of a throw blanket so two people can comfortably snuggle on the couch. You can adjust the size of the blanket depending on how many chains you make, allowing you to make it bigger or smaller.
- Stitch Options: I used double crochet stitches for the base of the blanket, but you can use any stitch you want to add texture.

🐌Expert Tips
- Keep It Simple: If you're a beginner, stick with double crochet stitches. They are easier to manage and perfect for a big project.
- Bobble Stitch Technique: Bobble stitches are easier to create if you keep the loops from crossing each other on the hook.
- Blocking for Perfection: Consider blocking your finished blanket to even out the stitches and enhance the overall appearance.
- Mixing Yarn Types: If you want to add texture or variety, try mixing different types of yarn in the same project, but be cautious of differing weights.
🧵Pattern FAQs
