Instructions
Blanket:
We will be working on the candy cane crochet blanket pattern in rows.
Row 1: With the red yarn, ch x150 +2 (for the turning ch)
Row 2: In the third ch from hook make a dc. Continue making dc’s for the rest of the row. Then ch x2 and turn.
Rows 3-12: Repeat row 2. Fasten off red yarn and join the white yarn before ch x2.
Rows 13-24: In white, repeat row 2.
Rows 25-36: In red, repeat row 2.
Rows 37-48: In white, repeat row 2.
Rows 49-60: In red, repeat row 2.
Rows 61-72: In white, repeat row 2.
Rows 73-84: In red, repeat row 2.
Rows 85-96: In white, repeat row 2.
Rows 97-108: In red, repeat row 2. Once the rows have been completed, then fasten off and weave in the ends.
Dot Border:
We will be working the crochet dot border in rounds.
Round 1: With the green yarn, attach the yarn to anywhere on the outer border. Then, sc around the entire border. One stitch into the stitch holes in the short blanket sides, and 2 sc into each stitch for the longer sides since they are dc.
When done, slip stitch into the first stitch in the round.
Round 2: FLIP the blanket to the wrong side of the blanket (just flip the blanket over). And now moving right to left still, [ ch x3, make a bobble stitch (see paragraph below on how to make the stitch), then sl st into the next 3 stitches.] Repeat what's in the brackets for the rest of the border.
*A bobble stitch is made by yarning over, inserting the hook into stitch, yarn over, draw loop back through stitch, yarn over pull through 2 loops then STOP. You will have a half completed dc hanging from your hook. Repeat the steps 4 more times until you have 5 half completed dc stitches hanging from your hook and 6 loops ON your hook. Then yarn over and pull through all 6 loops.*
Once the border is completed, you are now done with your new candy cane crochet blanket, perfect for snuggling. Keeping warm and watching holiday movies all season long.
