My Crochet Wallet Pattern is the perfect way to accessorize and keep all your important cards safe! And the best part is, you can make this crochet wallet in less than an hour.
I am that person who doesn't like wallets, purses or even backpacks. I usually give my I.D. and debit card to my husband to hold onto in his wallets because I don't like to have things in my pockets. Not that I would have enough space for a wallet because womens clothes never have big enough pockets to hold wallets anyways.
Recently I bought a larger tote bag for my to-go-crochet-bag which allowed me to carry snacks, things that I needed throughout the day and gave me room for a wallet!
Now that I am the proud owner of a large bag that goes with me everywhere, I can now have a wallet because I have a place to hold it. Now what kind of wallet? A crochet wallet! What else?!
So today I am also going to show you how to crochet a wallet of your very own! I love crochet wallets because they are fast to make and can be easily personalized by sewing on a crochet applique.

✏️ Things To Note:
- I used acrylic yarn for the crochet wallet pattern. You can use acrylic or cotton for the pattern.
- The base of the pattern only calls for single crochet (sc). Nothing fancy as far as other stitches go.
- The finished wallet is about 3 inches tall and 4 inches wide.
🪡 Materials Needed
- Small ball of sage green yarn
- 4mm hook
- Tapestry needle for weaving in the ends
- Velcro or button for closure
- Sewing thread and needle for button/velcro.
💭 Abbreviations to Remember (US Terms)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Chains (ch)
🧋 Variations
You can add different appliques to the top of the wallet, and even switch out the stitch you are using to create more variation.
🍵 Instructions for Crochet Wallet
This pattern is worked in rows.
Row 1: Ch x64 (64) + 1 turning ch (never work in the turning chains, just skip those in the next row)
Row 2: Starting in the second ch from hook, sc in every stitch (64). Then ch x1 and turn.
Row 3-13: Sc in every stitch (64). Then ch x1 and turn
Row 14-28: Sc x16 (16). Then ch x1 and turn. After all the rows are done, fasten off and weave in the tail.
Now that the base of the wallet is done, it is time to fold it and sew it into a wallet!
Lay the piece flat so that the long portion of the wallet is at the bottom, and the shorter rows are in the upper right.
From left to right, fold the bottom portion of the wallet 3 times so that there are 4 walls to the wallet and then ultimately you end up with 3 pockets.
First fold.
Second fold.
Third fold.
With yarn and tapestry needle, sew alongside the edges being careful not to sew too far into the wallet that it makes it harder to insert cards.
Once the wallet is sewn together, you can leave it as is or you can add an applique to the top to give it some personality.
To close the wallet. You can either sew a button on or velcro (which is what I did) for secure closing and opening. Use the sewing thread and needle for this part.
As you can see the crochet wallet design is fairly simple and can be completed pretty fast.
🧵 Pattern FAQs
Yes you can, you just want to adjust the number of chains you make if you want the same size wallet but with fewer pockets. If you want 2 pockets ch x48, If you want 1 pocket ch x32.
Absolutely! This is a base pattern that can be customized to your preferences.
Yes it is doable, just enlarge the amount of starting chains you have in the beginning. The end shape should be the same, just enlarged.
