    1. Skill Level: This pattern is designed for all skill levels, including beginners. If you're comfortable with basic crochet stitches and can manage 9 loops on your hook at once, you’ll find this project very accessible.
    2. Materials: You’ll need some scrap yarn (preferably cotton or any yarn that works well for small accessories) and a suitable crochet hook. 🪡 Materials Needed

    • Scrap yarn at least 2 colors
    • 5.5mm hook
    • Keychain
    • Tapestry needle

    💭Abbreviations to Remember (US terms)

    • Magic ring (mr)
    • Chains (ch)
    • Single crochet (sc)
    • Double crochet (dc)
    • Slip stitch (sl st)

    🧋Variations

    • Color Combinations: Experiment with different yarn colors for the flower petals and center to create a variety of looks. You can create multi-colored flowers with contrasting petals and centers for a bold, eye-catching design or stick to a more subtle, monochromatic style for a minimalist feel.
    • Add Beads or Buttons: To make your keychain even more special, sew a small button or bead in the center of the flower. This can add texture, sparkle, and extra charm to your finished keychain.

🍵Instructions for Crochet Flower Keychain Pattern

This crochet keychain pattern is made in the round.

    Crochet flower middle.

Round 1: With yarn color A, make a mr, then sc x6.

After, make a sl st to the first sc but change the color to yarn color B when pulling through the stitch. (6). Fasten off yarn color A but leave about 18 inches of yarn for embroidering the center at the end.

    Starting chain for the petals.

    Round 2: *Ch x2.

9 loops left on my crochet hook after double crocheting 8 together.

Then dc 8 together in the same stitch you made the chains.

To do this make a dc in the same stitch but only go through the first 2 loops when you are finishing off the stitch (it should be half completed) then yarn over and make another half completed dc. Do this for a total of 8 times, you should have 9 loops on your hook.

Pulling through all 9 loops on the hook.

Now yarn over and go through all loops on the hook and make a ch to secure the puffy stitch closed.

Chain after making the bobble stitch.

Now ch x2 and make a sl st into the next sc from the last round. *

Anchoring the chain with a sl st at the base.

Push the puff stitch towards you by gently flipping the sides downward.

    Finished petals.

Repeat from * 5 more times or until the end of the round. Make sure you make a sl st to the beginning and then fasten off your yarn and weave in the tails from the petals.

    Finished crochet flower keychains.

    Finishing:

With the long tail you left from the first yarn color and a needle, embroider over the middle circle so no hole is visible. Then fasten off and weave in any ends.

Add a keychain to one of the flower petals.

Thank you so much for following along with this crochet flower keychain!

I hope you enjoyed making this quick and easy project as much as I did. It's such a fun way to add a little handmade charm to your keys or gifts. Don't forget, you can customize your keychain in so many ways to make it truly your own!

    🐌Expert Tips

    • Tension Matters: Keep your tension consistent throughout the project to ensure your keychain has a neat and uniform appearance. If your stitches are too tight, your flower might become stiff.
    • Use the Right Yarn: While any yarn will work, I recommend using a cotton or a medium-weight yarn (like worsted weight) for the best balance of durability and texture. Cotton yarn is especially great for keychains because it holds its shape well and has a nice, crisp finish. If you want a softer feel, you can also use acrylic yarn.
    • Try Different Hooks: If you're new to crochet, experiment with a couple of different hook sizes to see which one gives you the best results. A hook that's too small for your yarn could make it hard to work through the stitches, while a hook that's too large may cause your flower to lose its shape. Generally, a 5.5mm to 6.0mm hook works well for most worsted weight yarns.

    🧵Pattern FAQs

What is a crochet puff flower?

A crochet puff flower is a type of flower made using one of the many "puff stitches" in crochet, which creates a textured, raised effect. This stitch involves working several yarn loops into one stitch to form a puff, giving the flower a fluffy and dimensional look.

Can I use any yarn for a crochet puff flower?

Yes, you can use any yarn for a crochet puff flower, but it's best to choose yarn that is sturdy enough to hold the shape of the flower. For keychains, cotton or acrylic yarn in a medium weight (worsted weight) is ideal, as it provides a good balance of texture and durability.

Can I adjust the size of the puff flower?

Yes, you can adjust the size of the puff flower by changing the yarn weight or hook size. Using thicker yarn and a larger hook will create a larger flower, while using thinner yarn and a smaller hook will result in a smaller flower. You can also adjust the number of petals or layers in the flower to make it bigger or smaller.

I attach yarn to the middle and go across and around the front and back of the middle part of the flower.
