Today, I'm excited to share my crochet crown applique pattern, perfect for any project that needs a little royal flair. This simple yet adorable crochet applique pattern can be used for a variety of items, from blankets to accessories, making it a versatile addition to your crochet repertoire.

Whether you're working on a crochet princess blanket or creating a royal themed crochet pillow, this crown applique would look cute on a little dog sweater for a dog named Princess!
The crown applique is an ideal way to add a personal and creative element to your work without complicating your project. The best part about the pattern? This crown applique is beginner-friendly, so even if you're new to crochet, you’ll find it easy to follow and fun to make. The most complicated part is the top of the crochet crown, but I have step-by-step photos to help!
And don’t forget, I have many more crochet applique patterns too! Many of my crochet coaster patterns can easily double as appliques! For example, my frog coaster works wonderfully for a frog prince theme, adding a playful element to any blanket or project.
If you were wanting to make other crochet appliques, check out some of my other crochet coaster designs like the crochet donut coaster and crochet tulip coaster, which are also perfect for accenting blankets, pillows, and more. I like adding crochet appliques to scarves and bags for a personal touch like with my crochet heart scarf pattern.

🐌Expert Tips
- Tension Control: Make sure your stitches are consistent and your tension is even. If you notice your applique is curling or uneven, try adjusting your tension or using a slightly larger hook.
- Blocking: After finishing your applique, lightly steam block it to smooth out the edges and help it hold its shape. This will give your applique a professional, polished look.
- Sewing: Using a whip stitch to sew on the applique is perfect. You can use the same yarn as the crown, or use a contrasting color for a more visual contrast.
🧵Pattern FAQs
An applique is a decorative design made with crochet that is sewn or attached to a larger piece, like a blanket, sweater, scarf or bag. It adds texture, color, and personality to your projects.
You can attach an applique by either whip-stitching or using a slip stitch through the back loops of the stitches. You can also use a yarn needle to sew it into place securely. Make sure to block both the applique and the project before attaching for a neat finish!
Any yarn that works with the weight and texture of your main project will work for crochet appliques. For example, if your project is made with worsted weight yarn, you should use a similar weight yarn for the applique. Use the same fiber content for best results, but mixing fibers can also create fun effects!
