I created this crochet fall garland pattern using a 5mm Onyx Streamline Hook and Wander acrylic yarns. The inline hook glided smoothly with the soft Wander yarn, helping me maintain consistent stitch sizes. I can’t wait to use this hook for future projects!

✏️ Things To Note:
- Yarn Type: This pattern uses Wander acrylic yarn, but you can substitute with any yarn you have, including partial skeins or chunky yarn for larger pumpkins and acorns.
- Stuffing Options: I use polyfill as my stuffing, which is the most common type for crochet plush toys and decorations. However, some people prefer alternatives like yarn scraps or cotton stuffing. For example, I often use crinkle paper instead of stuffing in my Free Crochet Giraffe Pattern.
- Finished Size: The finished size of the pumpkins and acorns is approximately 2 inches.

🍵Instructions for Crochet Fall Garland Pattern
Crochet Mini Pumpkin Pattern:
For this pattern we will mostly be working in rows.
Row 1: With the marmalade yarn, ch x13 and turn.
Row 2: In the second chain from the hook, make a hdc. Continue to make hdc for the rest of the row (12). At the end of the row, ch x1 and turn. (The ch is a turning ch, you will be making these every row but do not work in them!)
Row 3: In blo, hdc for the entire row (12). Ch x1 and turn
Row 4-12: Repeat row 3 (12). Then after the last row, fasten off the yarn and leave a long tail for sewing (roughly 18 inches).
To turn the rectangle into a sphere:
Fold the rectangle in half so it looks more square, then with the long tail end and the tapestry needle sew the square closed.
Now cinch the open end of the square by going in and out of the entire open edge, then pull tight to close it. Tie the yarn to secure the cinched bottom then pull the yarn to the other open end of the pumpkin. Lightly stuff the pumpkin and then cinch the last open side of the pumpkin, stuff it a little more if you want, then tie and secure the cinched end.
Now that we have a sphere, we are going to section it into 8 pieces by taking our yarn tail and inserting it through the center of your cinched ends, then wrapping it around the pumpkin and inserting it into the other end and pull tightly until a bulge in the sphere starts to form. You will do this 6 times to create 8 sections. Once it's been sectioned, fasten off the yarn and weave in any ends.
Crochet Pumpkin Stem:
Row 1: With the camel yarn, ch x4 and turn.
Row 2: In the second chain from the hook, make a sl st. Continue to make sl st for the rest of the row (3). Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing.
Sew the crochet stem to the top of the small crochet pumpkin.
Crochet Acorn Pattern:
The crochet acorn pattern is made in the round.
Round 1: Using the Sandbar yarn, make a mr and then sc x6 into the mr. (6)
Round 2: Inc, then sc. Repeat for the rest of the round. (9)
Round 3: Inc, then sc x2. Repeat for the rest of the round. (12)
Round 4: Inc, then sc x3. Repeat for the rest of the round. (15)
Round 5-7: Sc in every stitch. (15)
Round 8: Dec, then sc. Repeat for the rest of the round. (10) Stuff the ball.
Round 9: Dec and then repeat for the rest of the round (5). Then fasten off and sew the ball shut.
Crochet Acorn Top:
Round 1: With the camel yarn, make a mr and make sc x6 in the circle.
Round 2: Inc in every sc. (12)
Round 3: Inc, sc. Then repeat until end of round (18).
Round 4: Sc in every stitch. (18)
Round 5: Dec, then sc x4. Repeat for the rest of the round. (15) Then fasten off the yarn and leave a tail for sewing.
Crochet Acorn Stem:
Row 1: With the camel yarn, ch x3 and turn.
Row 2: In the second chain from the hook, make a sl st. Continue to make sl st for the rest of the row (2). Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing.
Crochet Acorn Leaf:
With the arbor yarn ch x5, then in the second ch from the hook make a sl st. Make a sl st in the following stitch too. [Then ch x4 and sl st to the next stitch from the original ch you made]. Repeat what is in the brackets 1 more time. Then flip to the other side and make a sl st. Repeat what is in the brackets 2 more times. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Before sewing you should move the fastened off yarn end to the other side of the leaf since that's the side we will be sewing to the acorn.
Crochet Acorn Assembly:
Sew the crochet top to the top of the acorn base (the side we fastened off is the top). Then sew the acorn stem to the middle of the top of the acorn. Finally sew the leaf to the top of the acorn.
Once the sewing is done, your crochet acorn is complete.
Now that you know how to make crochet mini pumpkins and crochet acorns you can make as many as you need for your crochet fall garland! Once you have the amount that you need, just take some yarn and a tapestry needle and string the pumpkins and acorns onto the yarn. I hope you enjoy your new crochet autumn decoration!

🐌Expert Tips
- Batch Crocheting: This project requires a lot of sewing. To streamline the process, batch crochet: make several pumpkin bases, then stems, and finally acorn bases before attaching everything. I always like to batch process repetitive projects like in my Crochet Strawberry Blanket Pattern.
- Tapestry Needle: I recommend using a tapestry needle to easily string the pumpkins and acorns onto the yarn for the garland.
- Color Variation: Consider adding a splash of color by mixing different shades of yarn for your pumpkins and acorns.
- Mini Versions: You can also create smaller versions of the pumpkins and acorns for a mini garland.
🧵Pattern FAQs
Yes! You can adjust the sizing of the rectangle to create larger pumpkins.
The smallest crochet stitch is the slip stitch. You can actually use just the slip stitch to make projects like in Crochet Garter Stitch.
You can effortlessly transform them into various crochet fall decorations! Consider incorporating some into your table runner for charming crochet autumnal accents, or add them to shelves, bowls, and more for additional decorative flair.
