Make a crochet tulip using my Crochet Tulip Pattern to brighten up someone's day! Crochet flowers are so cute and perfect for gifting!

I love tulips, and where I live, we even have a spring festival for them! The Tulip Festival brings many people to my state, and for good reason -it looks like something straight out of the Netherlands, with fields and fields of tulips, minus a few windmills.
I have always associated tulips with spring, and since they are some of my favorite flowers, I decided to crochet one! My tulip crochet pattern can create beautiful crochet tulips that would be super cute for selling at markets or just handing out to people.
Imagine sneaking a crocheted tulip into a real tulip bouquet and saying, “I love you until the last one dies.” Insert sobbing here. It's so romantic, cheesy, and I just love that kind of stuff.
If you want to make a lot of smaller tulips for people, I recommend my tiny crochet tulip keychain pattern.
Now that I have enticed you to make a tulip or two, let's get started making my crochet tulip pattern!

✏️ Things To Note:
- Flower Size: My crochet tulip pattern has a fairly large flower top, but you can easily make it smaller by adjusting the width of the rounds to your preference. This is a super easy customizable pattern.
- Yarn Type: I used worsted weight yarn for the tulip crochet pattern, but any type of yarn works! Just know that if you use size 5 yarn or larger, the flower will also increase in size.
- Stem: I use thick floral wire for the stem, which allows it to bend some. If you don't want it to bend, try using a wooden skewer with a ball at the end.

🍵Instructions for Crochet Tulip Pattern
The flower part of the crochet tulip pattern is made in rounds.
Crochet Tulip Flower:

Round 1: With the yarn for the flower, make a mr and sc x6 into the circle. Pull tight.
Round 2: Inc in every stitch (12).
Round 3: Inc, sc. Then repeat for the rest of the round (18).
Round 4: Inc, sc x2. Then repeat for the rest of the round (24).
Round 5-11: Sc in every stitch (24). Fasten off the yarn but leave a tail for sewing.
Crochet Tulip Leaves:

If you are turning the tulip into a bouquet, you may not need leaves.
With the green yarn, ch x9. Before starting the next part, with the 26 gauge wire underneath the stitches you create, follow this sequence of stitches, starting in the second ch from the hook:
sc x4, hdc x3, and then in the last stitch dc x6 and turn to the unworked side of the chain. Hdc x3, sc x4. Then fasten off the yarn and the wire, leave an inch or so of wire, but a few inches of yarn.
Make 2 leaves.
Tulip Assembly:
Before we can close the tulip, we need to attach the stem and leaves.

Step 1: Bend one end of the floral wire into a small curve, then insert it through the center of the tulip so the curved end stays hidden inside.

Secure the green yarn onto the closed circle of the floral wire.

Thread the green yarn onto your sewing needle and bring it through the bottom center of the tulip. Secure the yarn to the floral wire.

If needed, add a little glue to keep it from slipping.

Step 2: Pull the yarn and wire down to the base inside the tulip. Begin wrapping the green yarn tightly around the floral wire.

After wrapping about 2 inches, attach the leaves by twisting their wire around the stem. Continue wrapping the yarn over the leaf wire and down the rest of the stem until the floral wire is fully covered. Secure the yarn ends with hot glue.

Step 3: To finish the tulip, lightly fill it with polyfill stuffing. Using the purple yarn tail and your needle, pinch the top of the tulip into a plus-sign shape. Sew through the center point where all four sections meet, stitching in an “X” pattern to hold the shape in place.

🐌Expert Tips
- Avoiding Droop: You want to use strong floral wire or another strong material for the stem. If you use thin bendable wire the flower will end up floppy.
- Customizing the Height: If you want a shorter tulip, simply reduce the number rounds that contain the same stitch amount. The reverse is true if you want a taller tulip.
- Color Combinations: Experiment with different color combinations for the petals and leaves to create unique variations.
🧵Pattern FAQs
Of course! It will just be an extra large tulip then.
Simply add more rounds that increase stitches, or reduce the amount of increase rounds if you want it smaller.
Absolutely! The trickiest part is not getting burned on the hot glue, so just take your time during that part of the pattern.
