Adjust the tulip flower top size to your preference.
Customizable pattern works with any yarn type; larger yarn increases flower size.
For a bendy stem, use wire, a hair curler, or a pipe cleaner.
Customize width, height, color, and stem style.
For a simpler stem, attach wire through the tulip's middle, wrap, and securely glue yarn around it from inside the flower.
Instructions
Tulip:
The flower part of this pattern is made in rounds.
Round 1: Using the yarn you want the petals to be made out of, make a mr and then make sc x6 in the circle. If you find it difficult making a magic ring you can chain 2 and then crochet sc x6 in the second chain from the hook. (6)
Round 2: Inc in every sc. (12)
Round 3: Inc, sc, and then repeat until end of round (18)
Round 4: Inc, sc x2, inc, and then repeat until end of round (24)
Round 5: Inc, sc x3, inc, and then repeat until end of round (30)
Round 6: Inc, sc x4, inc, and then repeat until end of round (36)
Round 7: Inc, sc x5, and then repeat until end of round (42)
Round 8-20: Sc in every stitch. (42) At the end, fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Finishing off the flower portion:
You want to stuff the flower with polyfill, then with your needle and long yarn tail sew the top of the tulip shut by forming it into a square (for mental referencing) then insert your hook into a stitch on each top side of the square so you have a diamond formed from the sewing, then pulltight to close the tulip. Then sew the top sections of the tulip closed so no polyfill can escape and you are done. I wanted my tulip to look a bit more closed, so I sewed through the 4 ends of the tulip tips and pulled them closer together.
Leaves:
The leaves are made in rounds, but start off as a chain at first.
Round 1: Ch x31 and turn your work.
Round 2: In the second chain from the hook make a sc. Then in the following chains, make: sc x2, hdc x5, dc x14, hdc x5, sc x3. Proceed to ch x2 and then switch to the other side of the leaf and repeat the same stitch sequence. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
You will need to make 2 of these leaves.
Stem:
The stem is made in rounds and is also optional, depending on if you want to crochet a stem, or wrap yarn around a wire.
Round 1: Make a mr and then sc x8 into the circle. Pull tight. (8)
Round 2-6: Make a sc in each stitch. (8) If you haven’t done so yet, now is a good time to flip the stem the correct way, so the right side is on the outside because it gets more difficult as the stem gets longer.
Round 7: Dec, sc x2, dec, sc x2 (6).
Round 8-38: Sc in every stitch (6). Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Finishing:
Stuff the stem, and sew the stem to the tulip petals. Then sew the leaves to the tulip stem near the bottom or bottom half of the stem at least.
And now you have a crocheted tulip flower made from my crochet tulip pattern!
