Today I will show you how to crochet the Suzette Stitch Crochet Pattern. The crochet suzette stitch is an easy crochet stitch to master as long as you know 3 of the 5 most basic crochet stitches -chain, single crochet, and double crochet.
The suzette stitch crochet pattern I have below is a big enough swatch it can double as a dishcloth or washcloth! The texture of this particular stitch makes it a perfect crochet dishcloth. The Grit Stitch Crochet Pattern and Sedge Stitch Crochet Pattern are also great textured crochet stitches that make marvelous crochet dishcloths and pair well with the suzette stitch dishcloth.
Not only can the suzette stitch be used to make dishcloths, but it can also be used to make a blanket or even a scarf. This crochet stitch pattern may look difficult, but it is really simple. So, if you do end up making a crochet suzette stitch blanket pattern, it is one that you can easily watch tv and mindlessly do.
While the crochet suzette stitch is also called the crochet thicket stitch, it is not the lemon peel stitch also called the crochet grit stitch or crochet seed stitch. The 2 stitches are similar, since they both utilize single and double crochet stitches. However, the main difference is where the two stitches are placed.
The crochet lemon peel stitch places 1 stitch (either single or double) in each stitch space. While the suzette stitch places both a single and double crochet in 1 stitch, then it skips the next stitch.
When I am learning a new stitch, I like to grab cotton yarn and make a stitch swatch big enough to make dishcloths. The crochet stitch swatches can also be used as washcloths and can be paired nicely with a Crochet Spa Set for a lovely last-minute gift.

- Here I make a dishcloth, but you can use it as a washcloth or if you change the sizing of the chains, you can even make a blanket! It is easy and works up fast!

🍵 Instructions for the Suzette Crochet Stitch
Row 1: Using light blue cotton yarn, ch x30 +1 for the turning ch. (30 +1)
Row 2: Starting in the second chain from the hook make a sc and a dc in the same stitch. Then skip the next ch. In the following ch make a sc and a dc in the same ch. Again, you are going to skip the next ch. You will repeat this for the rest of the row. (30)
The suzette stitch is made by making a sc and a dc in one stitch then skipping the next stitch, and repeating this process.
Ch x1 and turn. The ch is a turning ch so do not work in it. Skip over it in the next row and go directly to the last stitch worked.
Row 3-24: In the hole created from skipping the stitch below insert hook into the space. Then make a sc and a dc. Skip the next stitch and repeat.
Remember to ch +1 for turning after each row (30). When all the rows are complete, fasten off and weave in the tail.
And now you have your own suzette stitch crochet dishcloth or washcloth! Cheaper and cuter than the washcloths you can find at the store.
