๐Expert Tips
- Choose Soft Yarn: For a cozy and luxurious feel, opt for soft yarns like acrylic or wool blends. This will help ensure your tree skirt has that plush, Santa-coat look and feel. The fluffy white trim will really pop if you use a soft, textured yarn.
- Adjust the Size: If you'd like a larger or smaller tree skirt, itโs easy to adjust the pattern for crochet Christmas tree skirt. Just add or remove rounds to fit the size of your tree. For smaller trees, you can stop sooner; for larger trees, just keep adding a few more rounds.
- Block Your Finished Skirt: After finishing, lightly steam or block your tree skirt to smooth out the stitches and shape it neatly. This will give it a polished, professional look, perfect for displaying under your tree.
๐งตPattern FAQs
For the best results, I recommend using a soft, medium-weight yarn like worsted weight (using 2 strands) or bulky (using 1 strand). Acrylic or a wool blend works well for creating a plush, cozy look. The white fuzzy trim can be made with a fluffy or textured yarn to give it that Santa-coat vibe!
If you find the fuzzy trim to be uneven or bumpy, try crocheting with a looser tension. If the yarn is very fuzzy, it might be harder to see your stitches clearly, so take your time and feel free to adjust the tension as needed to keep the trim neat.
Absolutely! This tree skirt makes a wonderful homemade gift for friends and family who love unique, handcrafted holiday decorations.

Melissa Madsen says
How many yards of yarn did you use? I know it says 2 skeins but you did them together right? I want to use blanket yarn instead of two strands but Iโm not sure how many skeins to get?
Kimberly Arenas says
I believe I used the entire skeins of both (double stranded), so for me it was roughly 700-750 yards. If you are single stranding it with blanket yarn, half that should suffice ๐
Tina Adams says
Round 2: Ch x2, the dc inc in the next stitch. Then dc x3 and repeat for the rest of the round. Sl st to the first dc in the round (60).
Just trying to verify. I am seeing to chain 2, then dc inc in the next stitch.....than I see "then dc x3 and repeat the rest of the round...........
Does that mean to put 3 dc in one stitch and repeat for the rest of the round?
I must be misunderstanding it as that doesn't come up to "60". Can you please explain?
Kimberly Arenas says
For this pattern I don't count the ch x2 as a dc (you can if you want and are used to that, just make a double crochet where you made the chains from instead of proceeding to make an increase in the next stitch).
For this round you make an increase of 2 dc in 1 stitch, then dc x3, meaning 1 dc in each of the next 3 stitches. To finish up the round sl st to the 1st dc you made.
