Yarn Choices: You can use the yarn skeins I listed, but since the crochet peas use very little material, you can opt for scrap yarn if you prefer.
Yarn Type: Any type of yarn will work for this pattern. The crochet pea pod is about 4 inches in length; using blanket or chunky yarn will create a larger plush.
Adding a Face: I added a face to my pea pod, but feel free to skip this step if you prefer!
Instructions
Make x2
This pattern is made in rounds.
Round 1: Using the lighter green colored yarn, make a mr and then sc x6 into the mr (6).
Round 2: Inc in every sc (12).
Round 3: Inc, sc, then repeat until end of round (18).
Round 4: Inc, sc x2, then repeat until end of round (24).
Round 5-7: Sc in every stitch (24). Put in the safety eyes between rounds 5 and 6, 3 stitches apart.
Round 8: Dec, sc x2, then repeat for the entire round (18). Begin to stuff the ball.
Round 9: Dec, sc, then repeat for the entire round (12).
Round 10: Dec and then repeat for the entire round (6). Then fasten off and sew the ball shut.
Crochet Pea Pod:
This pattern starts off with a chain and is made in the round.
Round 1: With the darker green yarn, ch x13. In the second ch from the hook make a sc. Make a sc in the next 10 chains (11 sc total) Sc x3 in the last ch. Sc x10 on the unworked side of the ch.
Inc into the last chain, Sl st to the first sc you made. This is the only time you'll sl st (26).
After the last round, fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Finishing:
Using your needle and yarn tail for sewing, sew the little ends of the pea pod closed so it creates a pea pod shape. Then add the peas to the pod and secure them by sewing them to the pea pod.
Do any embroidered embellishments to the peas at this time if you haven’t already.
And now you finished your crochet peas in a pod, a perfect little trinket to show someone you care about them.
