What better way to welcome autumn and Halloween than to make a monster hat from my free Crochet Monster Hat Pattern? It’s the perfect crochet accessory for October.
1skein of GrapeTLC Amore by Red Heart (I understand this yarn is discontinued so any soft slightly fuzzy yarns could replace it or another size 4 yarn of your choosing)
Small amounts of white yarnblack yarn and green yarn.
Yarn Type: The main yarn I used was Grape TLC Amore acrylic yarn from Red Heart, which is discontinued. You can substitute any type of size 4 yarn for this hat.
Skill Level: The base of the crochet monster hat pattern only requires single crochet (sc) and double crochet (dc), making it super easy and perfect for beginners.
Size Adjustments: The finished crochet monster hat pattern fits a child's size. Adjust as needed. I will post the adult size below, but please modify it as necessary.
Instructions
This is the child sized pattern, for adult sized please scroll down.
Round 1: Using purple yarn, make a MR, Ch x2 (does not count as a stitch) and then dc x10 into the circle. If you find it difficult making a magic ring you can chain 3 and then crochet dc x10 in the third chain from the hook (10). Then Sl St to the FIRST DC in the round.
Round 2: Ch x2, dc inc in each stitch in the round (20). Then sl st to the first dc in the round.
Note: I do not count the ch x2 at the beginning of each round as a stitch, I simply use it for height. If you want to count it as a stitch -you can, just make sure you end each round with the same counts as me.
