Crochet Gift Tag Pattern

If you’re like me, you love adding a personal touch to your gifts. Today, I’m thrilled to share my favorite crochet gift tag pattern with you.

Yarn Choice: Use a sturdy, medium-weight yarn for durability. Cotton yarn works well, as it’s easy to clean and holds its shape.
Hook Size: Choose the appropriate hook size for your yarn to achieve the desired stitch tension. A smaller hook can create a tighter fabric, which is ideal for tags.
Simple Patterns: Start with a simple design, especially if you’re new to crochet. Basic shapes like rectangles or circles are great for beginners.

Row 1: With the white yarn, ch x9 (9).
Row 2: In the second ch from the hook, make a sc. Continue making sc for the rest of the chain length (8). Then ch x1 and turn.
Row 3-11: Sc in every stitch (8). Then ch x1 and turn.
Row 12: Dec, sc x4, dec (6). Then ch x1 and turn.
Row 13: Dec, ch x2, dec (4). Then ch x1 and turn.
Row 14: Sc, sc x2 into the ch space, sc. Then fasten off the yarn and weave in any ends.

Starting with red, join the yarn to any place on the crochet gift tag border, then make a sc. Before finishing the sc by yarning over and going through the 2 loops on the hook, switch the yarning over color to green.
When you pull through the 2 loops on the hook, you will be left with green on your hook.
Make a green sc in the next stitch, but before finishing the stitch, switch the yarn to red just like before.
You will do this for the rest of the border, when you get to the corners you will make 3 sc stitches in each corner. Make sure you are still switching your colors every stitch though.
When you are done, fasten off the yarn and weave in any ends. If you would like you can add some personalization by stitching a name or by using fabric paint.
