Instructions
The crochet axolotl coaster pattern is made in rounds. I will show you how to crochet an axolotl coaster for beginners.
Round 1: Using the coral yarn, make a magic ring and immediately chain 2 (does not count as a stitch).. Then dc x12 into the magic ring. To secure the round, sl st to the 1st dc in the round (12).
Round 2: Ch x2, then dc inc in every stitch from the previous round. Then sl st to the first dc in the round (24).
Round 3: Ch x2, then dc inc, dc and repeat for the rest of the round. Then sl st to the first dc in the round (36).
Round 4: This is the last round for the axolotl coaster and will help create its overall shape. Pay close attention to the stitch that you are on.
Sc x13, sc inc, hdc, dc, dc inc, dc, hdc, hdc inc, sc x8, hdc inc, hdc, dc, dc inc, dc, hdc, sc inc, sc, sl st to beginning (42). Then fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
Crochet Axolotl Frills:
Look at the halfway point on your axolotl coaster. There should be a sc inc on either side of the face.
Join the red yarn to the sc inc on either side. *Then ch x4, in the second ch from the hook make a sc. Sc 2 more times into the next 2 chains. Then sl st back to the base of the axolotl in the same stitch. Then sl st to the next stitch and repeat from * 2 more times. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
It doesn't really matter where you place the frills, but make sure you do it on the same stitches across from each other on the face so the face is symmetrical.
If you want, you can use black yarn and make little eyes on opposite sides of the second or third round, and then make a large grin underneath it.
And now your crochet axolotl coaster is done! I hope you enjoyed the coaster pattern!
