Welcome to my Christmas beanie crochet pattern! This cozy and cheerful crochet Christmas beanie is sure to bring all the holiday spirit to your wardrobe. With its classic red, white, and green color combination, this crochet striped beanie embodies the warmth and joy of the season.
Ribbing Texture: The single crochet back loop only (sc blo) ribbing creates a stretchy, textured band that fits snugly around your head. Make sure to keep your tension even when working in the back loop to maintain a uniform ribbed effect.
Sizing: The Christmas beanie crochet pattern is written for adult-sized hats, but it can easily be adjusted for kids. Simply reduce the number of stitches in the ribbing or adjust the length of the hat to suit smaller heads.
Quick & Simple: With minimal decreases and easy stitches, this pattern works up quickly, making it perfect for holiday gifts or last-minute Christmas crochet hats. You'll be wearing it or gifting it in no time!
Instructions
The written Christmas beanie crochet pattern is for a large sized adult hat, adjust to size by referencing chart and a ruler. The ribbing measures 21 inches when slightly tugged.
Ribbing
This part of the hat is made in rows.
Row 1: Ch x10, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc for the rest of the row (9). Then ch x1 and turn.
Row 2: Sc in the back loop of each st (9). Then ch x1 and turn.
Row 3-80: Repeat Row 2 until you have 80 rows in total. Use more or less if your tension is too tight or loose. You want to have a 21-22 inch ribbed part when slightly tugged at.
Join the first and last rows with slip stitches to form a loop. Turn the piece right side out, leaving the slip stitches on the inside.
Hat Body
This part of the hat is made in the round.
Round 1: Turn the work horizontally, then join the white yarn to the top edge of the ribbing. Hdc in the top of the first row. Then continue making hdc stitches for the rest of the round. Make sure you do 1 hdc per row you made in the ribbing (80).
At the end of the round, sl st to the first hdc and switch the yarn color to red. You don't have to fasten off the white, just make sure you drop the yarn and don't carry it through the round. You can pick it back up when it comes to the start of the next round.
Round 2: Ch 1, hdc and repeat for the rest of the round, join with a slip stitch (80 sts). Then switch the yarn color to white.
Round 3-15: Repeat row 2 alternating colors every round between red and white (80)
Round 16: Make sc decreases for the entire round (40). Do not switch colors at the end. Then join with a sl st to the first dec.
Round 17: Make sc decreases for the entire round (20). Then join with a sl st to the first dec. Fasten off the yarn leaving a long tail. With the needle and yarn, weave in between the decreases in the last round and pull the top closed.
Finishing
Using a pompom maker, make a pompom according to your pompom maker instructions, then add to the top of the hat.
