Welcome to my cat coaster crochet pattern – the purrfect way to add some feline fun to your home! Whether you’re sipping tea or enjoying a coffee, your mug will have the perfect spot with these cute creations.
Skill Level: This pattern is great for beginners! If you’re comfortable with basic crochet stitches, you’ll have no trouble making these coasters. Even if you’re new to crochet, don’t worry – this project is simple and fun, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly it comes together!
Embroidery: The best part comes after the crochet is done—embellishing with embroidery! Once your coaster is finished, you’ll add the cat’s face using simple stitches. It’s a perfect way to give your coaster some personality and make each one unique. You’ll love seeing the cute details come to life with just a few easy steps.
Yarn Choice: For a durable yet soft coaster, choose yarn that’s both fun to work with and long-lasting. Cotton yarn is an excellent option because it’s absorbent and perfect for items like coasters that get frequent use. It’s also easy to find in various colors, so you can make your cat coasters as colorful and playful as you like!
Instructions
For this cat coaster crochet pattern, we will be working in rounds.
Round 1: Make a mr and ch x2 (does not count as a double crochet) in it. Then dc x12 into the mr and sl st to the first dc in the round (12).
Round 2: Ch x2 and dc inc in every stitch. Then sl st to the first dc in the round (24).
Round 3: Ch x2 and dc inc in the next stitch, then dc in the following stitch. Repeat for the rest of the round. Then sl st to the first dc in the round (36).
Round 4: Sc, hdc, then in the next stitch make the ear: dc x2 + tr + ch + tr + dc x2 in one stitch.
Then in the next stitch make a hdc, and in the following a sc. Sl st x4.
Sc, hdc, and then make the second ear in the following stitch. Dc x2 + tr + ch + tr + dc x2 in one stitch.
Hdc, sc, hdc, [hdc inc, hdc x2] and then repeat what is in the brackets 5 more times. Then hdc inc, hdc and sl st to the 1st sc in the round.
Fasten off and weave in any ends.
Embroidery:
With the white yarn embroider a T in the first round of the cat face coaster. Then add the eyes in round 2 at an angle from the nose. Add 3 whiskers to each side of the T starting midway in round 2 and ending midway into round 3.
Fasten off and weave in any ends.
And there you have it – your very own adorable crochet cat coaster!
