One Continuous Piece: The head and body are one continuous piece, so no sewing is required except for the ears and wings, making it easier to create! I use this same method for my crochet axolotl pattern.
Yarn Choices: I used acrylic yarn for the free amigurumi bat pattern, but you can also use cotton or chunky yarn if you want to make a larger bat. Avoid wool unless you're okay with it shrinking after washing.
Stitch Tightness: My stitches are tight when I single crochet. If you have trouble keeping your stitches tight, try yarning under during a single crochet instead of yarning over. This method naturally creates a tighter stitch. It might take a little practice, but many amigurumi makers recommend yarning under.

Round 4: Inc, sc x2. Then repeat 2 more times. (12). Slip stitch, fasten off and leave tail for sewing.
Wings:
The wings are made by making just one piece. It will be worked in a continuous spiral round not rows, and then folded in half to create the bat wing effect. When crocheting, the circle will not be perfectly flat, we are adding more increases than normal so it will bend and ripple (this allows the wings to make that U shape after we fold it).
Round 1: Make a mr, then ch x3, and proceed to make dc x15 into the mr circle. The 3 chains will act as a dc so for the next round only crochet into the top ch, not the bottom 2. (16)
Round 2: Dc inc x 16 (32)
Round 3: Dc inc, dc. Then repeat for the rest of the round. (48)

Round 6: Dc inc, dc x4. Then repeat for the rest of the round. (96)
Round 7: Fold wing in half. Ch 1, sc around the entire edge. (48)
Round 8: Ch x3, turn dc in the same stitch, [sc x5, (dc, ch, dc in the same stitch)], Repeat what’s in the brackets for the rest of the round (66). Slip stitch, fasten off and leave tail for sewing.
Sewing:
Sew each ear onto the top of the head.
Sew the bat wing to the middle of the back on the body portion of the bat. I typically move the long sewing tail from the side of the wing to the middle by weaving it in between the rounds stitches along the folded top. Secure it by making a hidden embroidery type knot so the yarn doesn't get tighter and fold up the wing. I then tack it along the back at various points to secure the wings.
Once the wings and ears are on you can embroider a mouth if you haven't done so already.
