Instructions
For this Crochet Spam Musubi Pattern, we will be working in the round.
Crochet Rice:
Round 1: Using white yarn ch x11
Round 2: In the second ch from the hook make an inc, then sc x8. Sc x3 in the last chain. Flip to the otherside of the chain and sc x9, then sl st to the 1st sc you made in the round.
Round 3: Inc, then sc x8. In the next stitches make an inc, sc, and an inc. Then sc x8, inc and sc.
Round 4-17: Sc in every stitch for the entire round (26).
Round 18: Dec, sc and then dc. Next, sc x8 and then dec, sc, dec and sc x8 (22).
Round 19: Sc 3 together (a decrease with 3 stitches instead of 2), then sc x8. Repeat for the other side of the rice (18). Then fasten off leaving a tail for sewing, add the eyes to the front of the spam musubi between the 1st and 2nd round.
Stuff the rice and sew it closed. Then if you want you can embroider a mouth in between the eyes.
Crochet Spam:
Follow the same pattern as the rice, but do not stuff.
Crochet Nori:
Row 1: Ch x6
Row 2: In the second ch from the hook make a sc. Then continue making a sc for the rest of the row. Then ch x1 and turn.
Row 3-36: Repeat row 2.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew the nori ends together to make a loop.
Now you can build your spam musubi! You can stack the rice and spam, then slip the nori over the spam and rice.
I hope you had fun creating your very own mini Spam musubi! Whether you’re making the crochet spam musubi for fun, the holidays, or even a gag gift, I’m sure this cute project will bring lots of joy.
