Crochet Linen Stitch Baby Blanket Pattern

Today we will make a Crochet Linen Stitch Baby Blanket with pom pom border. The crochet linen stitch is a popular and easy crochet stitch to master!

Yarn Selection: I made the crochet linen stitch baby blanket with 1 skein of Caron One Pound light grey yarn and then a little bit of a skein of white for the border. This is all worsted weight and you can absolutely make this pattern with thicker or thinner yarn.
Double Stranding: Double stranding the yarn is an easy and cost-effective alternative to using chunky yarn if you want a chunky look without the price tag. This is great if you are wanting to make a crochet throw blanket.
Adjusting Size: The crochet linen stitch baby blanket with pom pom border measures roughly 36x36 inches. If your blanket is smaller, just add more rounds.

The crochet linen stitch baby blanket pattern is worked in the round.
Round 1: Ch x2,
in the 2nd ch from the hook:
*sc, ch x2, sc, ch, then repeat from * 3 more times for a total of 4 times. Think of the ch-2 spaces as the corners.
Then after the last CHAIN, make a sl st to the first sc of the round to join the round together. Flip your work over so now the backside is facing you.
(It should look like a tiny little square, if it is not that apparent go 1-2 more rounds to see if it starts to resemble a square).
Round 2: The first stitch you will be working in for this round is the chain you made right before the slip stitch.
*Make a sc in the first ch-1 space and then ch x1. Skip the next sc and in the ch-2 space make: sc, ch x2, sc, and ch*.
Repeat from * 3 more times for a total of 4 times. Then sl st to the first sc of the round to join the round together. Flip your work.
Round 3 and onwards: Work a sc and ch in each ch-1 space.
For a ch-2 space (the corners) make a sc, ch x2, sc, and ch.
After finishing the last ch in the round, sl st to the 1st sc to join the work. Then flip your work over.
Repeat round 3 until your project is your desired length.
Make sure you flip your work over after each round.
Always work counterclockwise like you would normally.

After joining the white yarn to any sc on the edge, ch x6.
In the 3rd chain from the hook, dc4tog.
To make the stitch, make a normal dc but instead of going through the last 2 loops on your hook you instant go to making another dc, so each time you make a dc you are gaining an extra loop on your hook. At the end, you should have 5 loops on your hook.
Then yarn over and go through all 5 loops on your hook.
Then ch x3.
In the 3rd chain from your hook, dc4tog again.
Fold the cluster of stitches over and sl st into the ch that you made your first group of dc’s in.
Then ch x3 again.
Now you want to skip 5 stitches and anchor the chain to the crochet edge with a single crochet. This should be in a sc, not a chain.
You have now successfully made your first pom pom. Repeat for the rest of the edge. Slip stitch to the beginning.
